Taylor: When you’re trying to find the right lawyer or law firm, it’s helpful to know a little bit about them. My name is Taylor Rens and I’m the Rens of Zimmer and Rens, LLC. So, I started my career as a lawyer by starting a firm right out of law school. I started off by taking public defender appointments at the trial court and the Court of appeals levels. And I had one case took to the Wisconsin Supreme Court and actually won on an issue and had two convictions thrown out.
Slowly but surely, I built up a real estate and business law practice. And along the way, did some real estate investing myself to help myself learn the business side of the industry, which is so important to allowing me to give comprehensive advice to other real estate investors.
I first decided that I wanted to become a lawyer during my senior year of college. Before that, I thought I wanted to go into politics, but after having some internships and getting a little bit of experience in the political arena, I decided that wasn’t a good fit for me and that I would be able to help more people and, do more good by becoming a lawyer than working in politics.
It is extremely gratifying to help our clients succeed in their real estate or business legal matter. It never gets old.

Paul: Hi, my name is Paul Zimmer, one of the owners of Zimmer and Rens LLC. Before starting Zimmer and Rens LLC, I practiced law at a law firm in downtown Milwaukee for several years, and during that time, I got a lot of great experience practicing real estate litigation.
I was able to take a property tax case to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, setting important precedent in the area of agricultural property taxation. In addition to that, I had countless settlements and other victories for several clients.
During my time at that big firm. I really learned a lot and I really learned that I love practicing real estate litigation, but ultimately, deep down, it was right for me to start my own firm so that I could operate my law firm the way that I wanted it to operate.
What really got me interested in the law and in practicing law was back when I was a kid, I remember my mom telling me about my brother off in college, and his, he and his roommates accidentally burned down the rental house that they were in, and I, I always remember my mom talking about it because they hired the local lawyer that we always used for everything in our family, and he was able to, resolve that situation so that my parents didn’t have to step up. And my brother didn’t have to step up and pay for anything. And it just always struck me, as lawyers are people who take a very difficult situation for somebody. And they basically correct it.
Taylor and I knew each other from law school, and we stayed in touch after school. And before we knew it, one thing led to another. And in 2021, Zimmer and Rens LLC was born. And now we’re a few years into running our firm and looking back, it really makes sense that we started our own firm because Taylor and I both have a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit, and Zimmer and Rens LLC was really the perfect move for both of us.
At this point, we’ve built up our law firm to where we now have a whole team of associates, paralegals, law clerks and assistants, and we’re really ready to take on any real estate or business law challenge that comes our way.

Paul Zimmer
Before co-founding Zimmer & Rens, I spent several years at a Milwaukee law firm specializing in real estate litigation. One highlight of my career was successfully arguing a property tax case before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, setting a precedent in agricultural property taxation.
My interest in law started early. As a kid, I was inspired by a family lawyer who resolved a complex situation involving my brother and his roommates accidentally burning down their rental house.
